They were open about it.
They had cell phones
guns
babies
iPads or minis
sunglasses
and cold brews
Belts were riveted
and full of holes, but filled-
every loop a buckle
as hook for holding
pills
mace
grenades
flint
tic-tacs
tinned fish
and other tools.
They were prepared, occupied
with ideas and fear,
hunters, who felt like prey.
